SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ken Garff Automotive Group, one of the largest and most-recognized dealer groups in Utah, has selected Humana (NYSE: HUM) to provide health benefit coverage for its 1,800 Utah employees and dependents, effective January 1, 2008.
The agreement between the dealership group and Humana was brokered by Jeana Hutchings and Sean Oliver of Diversified Benefit Services Group of Salt Lake City.
Ken Garff Automotive Group began as a single-car dealership in downtown Salt Lake City in 1932, and has grown to include over 25 new and used vehicle locations throughout the state. The company has dealerships located in Salt Lake City, Murray, West Valley City, Taylorsville, Orem, Ogden, American Fork, Lehi, Sandy, and St. George. Additionally, the company has recently begun out-of-state acquisitions and now has four dealerships in Houston, Texas, four in Des Moines, Iowa, as well as a Toyota Dealership in Richmond, Indiana.
Humana will provide benefits through a preferred provider organization (PPO) product initially to Ken Garff’s Utah employees only, and will look to expand to the Ken Garff out-of-state markets in 2008.
“There is no greater benefit to an employee than affordable, comprehensive health care,” said Kim Lindsey, Human Resources Manager for Ken Garff. “We are a very progressive company in providing health benefits coverage to include a wellness program for our employees with health assessments, biometric testing and nurse coaching.
“Humana came to the table with years of experience working with businesses and demonstrated a clear understanding of the challenges that face business owners,” Lindsey said.
“We at Humana are pleased to have been selected to provide health benefits for one of Utah’s largest employers,” said Earl F. Hurst, president of Humana of Utah. “We share Ken Garff’s belief in wellness as an essential component of any health benefits program.”
Humana will provide Ken Garff employees with a variety of wellness, clinical and care management programs, including Humana’s innovative Personal Nurse service, as well as online resources to help consumers make educated and confident health care buying decisions.
“Humana believes one of the best ways a business can control its health care costs is for its employees to become savvy health care consumers,” Hurst said. "Humana is an industry leader when it comes to ‘consumerism’ in health care, and working with employers to help their employees find ways to keep their health costs in check.”
In Utah, Humana’s product portfolio includes traditional health care products and consumer-choice offerings including high-deductible health plans with health savings accounts, its HumanaOne individual coverage, dental and life products, and numerous Medicare products including Medicare Advantage plans that combine health and drug coverage, and stand-alone prescription drug plans.
