PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano has appointed Lorenzo Sierra, ABC, regional marketing consultant for Humana Inc.’s Arizona operations, to the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism.
The Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism builds service and volunteerism opportunities between local and statewide partnerships and the public and private sectors, tribal governments and community and faith-based organizations. The Commission views service and civic engagement by all residents in the state as an essential part of their civic responsibility to strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for all Arizonans.
“Throughout our long history of providing health services to businesses and individuals in Arizona, Humana has a long-standing tradition of supporting volunteer efforts that make positive and dramatic differences in our community,” said Jeff Montag, president of Humana of Arizona. “We are proud of Lorenzo and his commitment to work with the Governor’s Commission on programs that provide opportunities for individual and societal growth. It only takes the efforts of one person, like Lorenzo, to make lasting and effective change happen.”
Sierra will serve on the Communications Committee and the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative.
An accredited, award-winning marketing communication professional, Sierra has developed an established marketing approach that has made Humana Inc. one of the top companies in Ranking Arizona and a finalist in the Business Journal of Phoenix’s Best Places to Work competition.
Prior to his service with Humana, Sierra was employed by the Valley of the Sun United Way, Aon human resources consulting firm, the American Compensation Association, U-Haul and Honeywell.
Sierra earned the Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) designation through the International Association of Business Communicators. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunications.
The Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism was founded in 1994 to fund and implement AmeriCorps programs. In 1999, the mission of the Commission was expanded to be the policy-making body on all volunteer and National Service issues in Arizona. Commissioners serve by appointment from the Governor and represent the diversity and unique nature of Arizona’s communities.
