Humana Appoints Tim Huval as Chief Human Resources Officer

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), one of the nation’s leading health and well-being companies, announced today that Tim Huval has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. He will serve on the company’s Executive Team and report to President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Broussard.

A 10-year veteran of Bank of America, Huval served most recently as the bank’s Senior Vice President for Consumer Service and Operations. In that capacity he led thousands of customer-service professionals who serve 57 million Bank of America customers. He also served as Human Resources Executive and as Chief Information Officer for Bank of America’s global investment management group and as Operations Executive for its Global Card Services division.

“What’s impressive about Tim’s career at Bank of America is that he was hand-picked on several occasions to solve critical business challenges in areas that go well beyond the scope of traditional HR,” Broussard said. “He was successful in 100 percent of those challenges. Though he has held multiple senior-level roles, his passion has always been HR.”

“I am honored to join Humana and eager to take on the company’s HR opportunities and challenges,” Huval said. “Besides being a leading health and well-being company, Humana is in the people business. That’s what’s most exciting and motivating to me.”

Huval replaces Bonnie Hathcock, the company’s Chief Human Resources Officer from 1999 to 2012, who retired Dec. 31. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from Brigham Young University, a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Weber State and an associate degree in business management from Salt Lake Community College.
