NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The TriZetto Group Inc. (NASDAQ:TZIX) announced that Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), one of the nation's largest publicly-traded health benefits companies, has transitioned the first phase of its commercial membership to TriZettos Clinical CareAdvance software, one of two modules that comprise TriZettos total CareAdvance Enterprise solution. CareAdvance Enterprise automates all aspects of care management, creating significant productivity improvements for medical management and enabling health plans to guide consumers on making better health decisions that can lower medical costs and improve health outcomes.

TriZetto designed Clinical CareAdvance to be an open and highly flexible platform, so that health plans using various core administrative systems can benefit from the technologys functionality. Built on an advanced service oriented architecture (SOA), the software can integrate easily into Humanas IT environment. Clinical CareAdvances data interface package also makes it easy for health plans to exchange information with multiple internal and external systems, resulting in a cohesive technology environment spanning insourced and outsourced activities. When the software integration project is fully completed, Clinical CareAdvance will work seamlessly with Humanas claims payment systems, as well as the third-party system that Humana uses to stratify, route and manage candidates for case and disease management programs.

With extensive automation and deep integration with core information systems, Clinical CareAdvance allows Humana to guide more members, more effectively, with lower interaction costs, said Gary Thompson, vice president of Clinical Programs for Humana. Since the system went live on December 20, 2006, these capabilities have already helped our organization address the critical area of medical management, while supporting the best health and wellness treatment plans for our members.

Using Clinical CareAdvance, health plans can offer broad utilization, case and disease management, including automated member identification; guideline-based care planning; task management and assignments; ongoing member monitoring; and granular reporting. Importantly, Clinical CareAdvance involves members more directly in their health.

There is a tremendous market opportunity to help health plans of all sizes leverage technology to dramatically improve their internal productivity as well as the price and quality of care, said Gene Drabinski, president of TriZettos Cost and Quality of Care unit. TriZetto continues to assist health plans across the nation in transforming their businesses to address new constituent needs, strengthen the relationship with their members, and thrive in the highly complex and competitive world of consumer retail healthcare.

About CareAdvance Enterprise

CareAdvance Enterprise is software that automates care management along the entire continuum of health, from the moment a member joins a plan, to when they leave the plan. The system includes two modules Personal CareAdvance and Clinical CareAdvance which integrate with the health plans core information systems, aggregating the members personal claims and diagnosis history, current prescriptions, and even laboratory data, into a single data repository. Members, their providers, and care managers can securely exchange and add information at the members discretion via Internet browser, e-mail and other communication channels. By combining this data with an automated rules engine, the application enables health plans to send personalized information to members, including health risk assessments and reminders, secure messages, and customized health reports.
