JOLIET, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today the expansion of its Medicare presence in Northern Will County. Beginning on Nov. 15, people with Medicare in Northern Will County can enroll in a new Humana Gold Plus HMO plan for 2008.

The expansion, approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, builds upon Humanas other Medicare plans currently available in the area, as the company focuses on providing greater choice to meet the changing needs of people with Medicare.

Humana Gold Plus HMO is a Medicare Advantage plan that provides an affordable alternative to original Medicare or a Medicare supplement plan. For no monthly premium, members can enjoy broad coverage, all the benefits of original Medicare, as well as prescription drug coverage. The plan offers members their choice of a primary care physician in the plan network, low co-payments for doctor visits and annual routine physicals, coverage for most annual screenings at no charge and emergency coverage anywhere in the world.

This plan has been very popular for years where its been offered in Cook, Kane and Kendall counties, so we are very pleased to be able to bring it to Northern Will County as well, said Rafal Zakrzewski, Medicare director for Humanas Chicago market. As baby boomers and people with Medicare age, their insurance needs change. Weve listened to consumers and have used our experience in health benefits to give them more options to fit their needs. The addition of a Medicare HMO in Northern Will County is further proof of our commitment to provide people with Medicare access to the right plan for them.

The new HMO plan will include money-saving features, like discounts on vision and hearing care, as well as access to Humanas nurse support service, called HumanaFirst, and a member-assistance program designed to help members live active, fulfilled lives. The plan also includes a membership in the SilverSneakers Fitness Program, designed especially for seniors, at no additional charge.

Approximately 300 local physicians will participate in the plan, including physicians at Advocate Health Center in Frankfort, and two local hospitals: Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The Humana Gold Plus HMO will be available in 16 Northern Will County Zip Codes that include all or part of 15 cities: Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Frankfort, Homer Glen, Joliet, Lockport, Mokena, Naperville, New Lenox, Orland Hills, Plainfield, Rockdale, Romeoville, Shorewood, and Tinley Park.

Those eligible for Medicare throughout Will County continue to have the choice of Humana's other Medicare plans, including a private fee-for-service plan, Humana Gold Choice, which offers members nationwide medical coverage; local and regional Humana Choice PPO plans; and stand-alone Part D prescription drug plans.

More than 28,000 members in Cook, Kane and Kendall counties are currently enrolled in the Humana Gold Plus HMO.

Humana Medicare Advantage is an alternative to original Medicare, not a supplement plan. For more information about enrolling in any Humana plans, visit www.humana-medicare.com or call toll-free 1-800-833-6578.
