Public Company Information:

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today the expansion of its Medicare presence in San Antonio. Beginning on Nov. 15, seniors in Guadalupe, Wilson, Atascosa, Bandera and Medina counties can enroll in the Humana Gold Plus HMO plan. The 2008 expansion, approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, builds upon the other Medicare plans currently available in San Antonio, and focuses on providing greater choice to meet the changing needs of seniors in the market.

The Humana Gold Plus HMO plans provide Medicare-eligible individuals in the San Antonio area with affordable alternatives to original Medicare or a Medicare supplement plan. Members can enjoy broad coverage, all the benefits of original Medicare and prescription drug coverage. The plan offers members their choice of a primary care physician in the plan network, no monthly plan premiums, low co-payments for doctor visits and annual routine physicals, coverage for most annual screenings at no charge and emergency coverage anywhere in the world.

As the number of people eligible for Medicare increases, and the populations of those people in the outlying San Antonio area increases, their insurance options need to change as well. Were committed to expanding our Medicare product offerings to meet them where they are in their health care experience, and also where they live, said George F. Smith, M.D., regional president of Senior Products for Humanas Southwest region. Weve listened to Medicare-eligible individuals about what they want and used our experience in health benefits to give them more options that fit their health needs. The expansion of our Medicare HMO in the San Antonio area is another proof point of our commitment to provide people eligible for Medicare access to the right plan for them.

The new HMO plan will include money-saving features, like discounts on vision and hearing care, prescriptions and complimentary and alternative medicine. It also includes access to Humanas nurse support service, HumanaFirst, and a member assistance program to provide those with Medicare additional support services and guidance.

Medicare-eligible people throughout the South Texas area continue to have the choice of Humanas other Medicare plans, including Humana Gold Choice, the private fee-for-service plan that offers members nationwide medical coverage, the Part D prescription drug plan and the local and regional Humana Choice PPO plan.

Humana Medicare Advantage is an alternative to original Medicare, not a supplement plan. For more information about enrolling in any Humana plans, visit www.humana-medicare.com or call toll-free 1-800-833-6578.
