TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today the availability of additional Medicare plans in Pima County, including Tucson. Beginning on Nov. 15, Medicare-eligible seniors can enroll in the Humana Gold Plus HMO or the local Humana Choice PPO plan.

The 2008 expansion, approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, builds upon the already available regional PPO, private-fee-for-service and Part D prescription drug plans in the area, and focuses on providing greater choice to meet the changing needs of seniors in the market.

The Humana Gold Plus HMO and Humana Choice PPO plans provide seniors with affordable alternatives to original Medicare or a Medicare supplement plan. HMO members enjoy broad coverage, all the benefits of original Medicare and prescription drug coverage, in addition to their choice of a primary care physician in the plan network, no or low monthly plan premium, low co-payments for doctor visits and annual routine physicals, coverage for most annual screenings at no charge and emergency coverage anywhere in the world.

The new plans include money-saving features, like discounts on routine vision, dental and hearing care, complimentary and alternative medicine. They also include access to Humanas 24-hour nurse support service, HumanaFirst, and a member assistance program to provide seniors with additional support services and guidance.

As baby boomers and seniors age, their insurance needs change. Were committed to changing our Medicare product offerings to meet them where they are in their health care experience, said Debbie Smith, regional president of Senior Products for Humanas Western region. Weve listened to seniors about what they want and leveraged our experience in health benefits to give them more options that fit their health needs. The expansion of product offerings in Tucson shows our commitment to ensuring all seniors have access to the right plan for them.

Local PPO members have the flexibility to select a provider or facility of choice either in or out of network, although out-of-network benefits are reduced. The plan also offers unlimited generic medication coverage, low co-payments for in-network specialist office visits and low co-payment for seeing in-network primary care physicians.

Additionally, all prescription drug coverage that accompanies the PPO plans will include a $0 co-payment of Tier 1 (preferred generic) drugs when ordered through Humanas preferred prescription home-delivery service, RightSource.

Medicare-eligible seniors throughout Pima County, including Tucson, continue to have the choice of Humana's other Medicare plans, including Humana Gold Choice, the private fee-for-service plan that offers members nationwide medical coverage, the Part D prescription drug plans and the regional Humana Choice PPO plans.

Humana Medicare Advantage is an alternative to traditional Medicare, not a supplement. For more information about enrolling in any Humana plans, visit www.humana-medicare.com or call toll-free 1-800-833-6578.
