"In such a scenario, adding specialty benefits enhances a company’s edge in recruitment efforts and can act as a great vehicle to improve employee productivity and satisfaction."

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pattie Dale Tye has been appointed president of Humana’s (NYSE: HUM) Dallas-Fort Worth Commercial market operations, in an announcement made by Ken Malcolmson, chief executive officer of Humana’s West Central Commercial region.

Tye will now lead Humana’s offering of a broad range of Commercial products, including medical plans and specialty benefits, in the Dallas - Fort Worth area. Specialty benefits include products such as dental, vision, disability, life, and workplace voluntary products.

In addition to her new role in Dallas - Fort Worth, Tye also leads Humana’s Commercial business in the greater Houston area.

Tye joined Humana in 2005 as president of Humana’s Houston Commercial operations, where she has been responsible for more than 160,000 medical, dental and vision members.

“Pattie Dale is a strong, proven leader with a great depth of understanding of health and specialty benefits and of health care market dynamics in Texas,” said Malcolmson. “Combining the DFW and Houston operations under her leadership adds great synergies, new efficiencies and the opportunity to share best practices that will ultimately highlight Humana’s dedication to exceeding our customers’ expectations in Texas.”

In addition to leading Humana’s medical plan offerings in Dallas - Fort Worth, Tye will focus on the company’s specialty-product offerings.

“Employers in Texas are working hard to rein in health care costs, which can be difficult to do while trying to increase employee satisfaction,” Tye said. “In such a scenario, adding specialty benefits enhances a company’s edge in recruitment efforts and can act as a great vehicle to improve employee productivity and satisfaction.”

A believer in giving back to the community, Tye is currently active with many Houston-area nonprofit organizations, including serving on the boards of the American Heart Association of Houston, HeartGift, and Elves and More. She also serves as President of Baylor College of Medicine’s BRASS, and is a member of the American Leadership Forum’s Healthcare Council, Class I, and the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Women’s Council.

Tye was named to Texas Executive Women’s “2008 Women on the Move” and as the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Person on the Move for 2010. Tye completed her 17th marathon in January and her first MS 150 in April.
