Humana Launches Nation's First National Consumer-Focused Program to Facilitate Healthy Aging for Medicare Members

  Humana Active Outlook Takes a Multifaceted Approach to Wellness; Features Active Living Programs That Address Physical, Psychological and Social Needs of Older Adults  

Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM) is offering Medicare members who aspire to healthy lifestyles the opportunity to do so when they enroll in the new Humana Active Outlook(sm) program. The program is available to all Humana Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug plan members at no added cost, and incorporates strategies which build on life experiences and contributions of seniors by providing active living programs that address the physical, psychological and social aspects of healthy aging.

Humana Active Outlook is the first program of this magnitude to be offered by a private insurer to people with Medicare. The program has incorporated consumer-based best practices to ensure optimal outcomes through a combination of research methodologies, including focus groups, surveys, ethnography studies and consumer testing. Additionally, Humana is taking advantage of relationships with strategic partners Procter & Gamble, Wal-Mart, Posit Science Corporation, and pharmacy retail partners CVS, Rite-Aid and Brooks/Eckerds to bring additional dimension and value to the program. Humana Active Outlook will also target physicians, network providers and health care professionals to serve as advocates.

Programs are divided into four key areas that offer practical solutions to aging issues that affect men and women everywhere -- nutrition, disease prevention, cognitive retention and advocacy. These programs are delivered via bi-monthly newsletters, web-based content, grass roots outreach, and community-based health screenings and classes. To ensure optimum efficiency and integrity of evidence-based program content, a medical advisory board will design and monitor learning objectives. Exclusive value offers for health-related goods and services are also offered to help members more readily adopt healthy behaviors into their daily lifestyles.
