Humana Named Official Sponsor of Dollywood

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana (NYSE: HUM) today announced a multi-year sponsorship with Dollywood, which welcomes more than 2.5 million guests a year to its park in Tennessee. As part of the agreement, Humana will serve as presenting sponsor of three of Dollywood’s award-winning festivals.

“Being at a world class destination like Dollywood is part of Humana’s mission of meeting our customers where they live and play,” said Lance Hoeltke, vice president of strategic alliances with Humana. “Like Dollywood, we want to build lasting relationships with our members and potential members based upon trust.”

At Dollywood, Humana will serve as presenting sponsor of festivals that appeal to people of all ages. They include:

  • Smoky Mountain Christmas (Nov. 8, 2008, through Jan. 3, 2009) was recently awarded as Golden Tickets’ world’s best Christmas festival. It features a spectacular display of four million lights and seven live shows that celebrate the spirit of Christmas.
  • The Festival of Nations (March 28 through April 27, 2009) celebrates the music, dance, art and food of other countries with entertainment like the all-new Imagine by Le Grande Cirque.
  • The National Gospel and Harvest Celebration (Oct. 2 through Oct. 31, 2009) is the largest Southern Gospel event in the United States. It features more than 250 concerts, the handmade treasures of visiting artisans and a smorgasbord of special harvest foods.

“We’re excited about this partnership with Humana,” Ken Bell, president of the Dollywood Company, said. “The family feeling we share with our hosts and guests is very similar to how Humana feels about its members. If you include their recent acquisition of Cariten in East Tennessee, this unprecedented partnership will benefit us both.”

Four “Humana Medicare Information Centers” will be open during these festivals to assist Humana and Dollywood customers. Ambassadors at the centers will distribute Medicare information and souvenir bags to guests. They will not, however, be able to sell or service Humana products.

In addition to the festivals, Humana will sponsor three on-park guest safety centers.
