Humana Nevada Market President M. Curt Howell’s Role Expands to Include Leadership of Arizona and Utah Commercial Operations

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--M. Curt Howell has been appointed president of Humana’s (NYSE: HUM) Arizona and Utah Commercial market operations, in an announcement made by Mark El-Tawil, chief executive officer of Humana’s West Commercial region.

Howell will now lead Humana’s offering of a broad range of Commercial products, including medical plans and specialty benefits, in Arizona and Utah. Specialty benefits include products such as dental, vision, disability, life, and workplace voluntary products.

In addition to his new role in Arizona and Utah, Howell also leads Humana’s Commercial business in Nevada.

A long-time Las Vegas resident and experienced health care executive, Howell joined Humana in 2009 as president of the company’s Nevada Commercial operations, where he has been responsible for the recent launch of the company’s Commercial health maintenance organization health plan offerings.

Howell previously served as executive director of UnitedHealthcare in Utah and Idaho; as president of MCH Consulting in Las Vegas; as chief operating officer for NevadaCare, Inc., and as president of HDS Consulting Services, Inc. in Las Vegas.

Howell also served as director of provider contracting/administration for Humana in Las Vegas from 1999 to 2000, as executive director for North American Medical Management and as operations manager/administrative resident for Sierra Health Services, Inc. in Las Vegas.

Howell earned a Masters of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Utah.
