Humana Wins Best TV Advertisement at 2011 Medical Marketing and Media Awards for “Relationships” Ad

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that its fall 2010 “Relationships” ad – which aired leading up to and during the Medicare Annual Election Period – was recognized as the Best TV Advertisement/Campaign at the 2011 Medical Marketing & Media (MM&M) Awards. The MM&M Awards recognize exceptional creativity and marketing effectiveness in health care.

Drawing inspiration from the authentic appreciation and love kids have for their grandparents, the “relationships” television ads connected with senior audiences to communicate how Humana provides personal attention and clear information to dispel some of the confusion and frustration seniors often feel about how the health care system works.

“Humana is honored and delighted along with our partners at Omnicom’s RAPP agency to receive this recognition,” said Raja Rajamannar, Humana’s chief innovation and marketing officer. “Our ‘relationships’ ads really do encapsulate what we stand for at Humana: helping seniors – and people of all ages – achieve lifelong well-being.”

Medical, Marketing and Media said the “well-executed spot aims to address seniors’ retirement goals of control and independence, while positioning Humana as a health care provider with their (members’) interests at heart.”

The panel of judges described Humana’s ads as “a perfect combination of education and emotion without being too cutesy.”

RAPP, Humana’s creative and marketing agency partner in the development of the ads, helped Humana boost traffic to Humana-Medicare.com. Site visits increased 50 percent during and immediately after the ad campaign and there were also more than 60,000 views of the “Relationship” ads on Humana’s YouTube channel.

Associated with one of the advertising industry’s major publications (MM&M Magazine), the MM&M awards are among the premier awards in the industry.
