(NYSE: HUM) today announced that its industry-leading healthcare consumer tool, SmartSummarysm, was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Achievement Award for Promotion of Consumer Education and Empowerment at the recently concluded Consumer Health World conference (CHW) in Washington, D.C. The CHW Awards recognize excellence and advancement in service, products and programs that enhance consumers abilities to manage their healthcare expenditures and enhance healthcare quality.

As the health insurance industrys first consumer-focused health benefits budgeting, planning, and consolidated reporting tool, SmartSummary offers Humana members access to a personalized array of financial, health and benefits information, empowering them to take charge of their healthcare management.

The SmartSummary statement includes a cumulative list of medical and prescription claims during a given time period, balances for the members healthcare spending accounts and messages tailored to their individual health needs. The statement also includes snapshot views of members pharmacy utilization that show compliance with maintenance medications, as well as, notifications if the cost changes for a particular drug.
