Grant Harrison will join Company as vice president of Integrated Consumer Experience, devoted to furthering consumer-focused health benefits
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) today announced the appointment of Grant Harrison to the position of vice president of Integrated Consumer Experience, ICE, a division of Humana’s Innovation Center. ICE is Humana’s business entity dedicated to enhancing a consumer-focused, integrated and holistic health care experience for members at all points in the benefit continuum.
Harrison brings fifteen years’ professional experience in the consumer-driven world, having led highly successful British companies such as Tesco, Vodafone, and British Sky Broadcasting to excellence in customer management and targeted marking. In 2006, Harrison was runner-up for the title of “Marketer of the Decade” in the United Kingdom for his development of the Tesco Clubcard, the British retailer’s successful frequent buyer program.
As vice president of ICE, Harrison will continue development of innovative products like SmartSummarySM and SmartSummary RxSM, quarterly and monthly health finance tools that help Humana members understand their plans, review spending and make informed and cost-effective decisions. Harrison will also spearhead Humana’s continued efforts to integrate consumer needs and desires into forward-looking product designs and processes that expand consumer independence, choice, and value, facilitate a positive consumer experience and better deliver guidance and actionable information to Humana members.
“Two years ago I was involved in the development of the Humana - Virgin Health Care alliance. I was struck by Humana’s commitment to consumerism and recognized their market leadership in this space,” Harrison said. “I’m pleased to be a part of the next phase. We need to look at health as the consumer does – from many angles. We’re going to encourage consumers to think about making healthy decisions every day, from what foods they buy to the way they exercise and how they use the health care system. This means working with other retailers and brands not conventionally associated with health care to engage consumers and give them actionable information and resources necessary to build optimal health.”
“Grant is an international leader in consumer insights,” said Jonathan Lord, M.D., Humana’s senior vice president and chief innovation officer. “His experience outside this industry will help Humana de-commoditize health care and make it comparable to what people experience in other areas of their lives. This will continue driving us toward our fundamental goals of reducing cost and improving quality of care.”
