Mark El-Tawil Named Division Leader for Humana’s West Region Medicare Division

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mark El-Tawil has assumed the role of Division Leader for Humana Inc.’s (NYSE: HUM) Medicare division in the West Region, which includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada.

In this role, El-Tawil is responsible for operational oversight of Humana’s Medicare HMO and PPO health plans, Medicare prescription drug plans, Medicare supplement policies, and private fee-for-service health plans offered to people eligible for Medicare in the West Region. Humana has approximately 495,000 Medicare members in the West Region.

El-Tawil joined Humana in July 2008 as President of the company’s Employer Group market operations in Arizona. Since May 2010, he has served as Chief Executive Officer for Humana’s West Region Employer Group division. Ken Malcolmson, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Humana’s West Central Region, will expand his region to include the West Region. The combined region will be referred to as the West Region.

El-Tawil graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor of science in business administration. He currently serves on the board of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, a national association providing grants, volunteer service and leadership to communities through industry-wide collaboration and charitable programs.
