Mark El-Tawil Named Regional Chief Executive Officer for Humana’s West Region Commercial Market Operations

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mark El-Tawil has been named regional chief executive officer for Humana’s (NYSE: HUM) West region Commercial operations, effective immediately. The region includes Arizona, Nevada, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii.

Humana offers a broad range of Commercial products, including medical plans and specialty benefits, in Arizona, Nevada and Utah. The company also offers specialty benefits such as dental, vision, disability, life, and workplace voluntary benefits in all other states El-Tawil now leads for Humana.

El-Tawil joined Humana in July 2008 as president of the company’s Commercial market operations in Arizona, and also recently began work for Humana in Nevada, including overseeing the spring 2010 launch of Humana’s commercial HMO products in Las Vegas.

In addition to overseeing Humana’s traditional Commercial PPO, HMO, point-of-service and consumer-focused health plans, El-Tawil will bring new focus to the company’s specialty benefit offerings.

Prior to joining Humana, El-Tawil served as Health Net Inc.’s Chief Senior Product Officer where he was responsible for the company’s Medicare operations nationally, and has served as Health Net’s Arizona market president.

El-Tawil graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor of science in business administration. He is active in civic and community activities such as the United Way, Make-A-Wish, Greater Phoenix Leadership and the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation.
